Basketballs and Boots

I went with my friend Brandon to a Wyoming Cowboys basketball game last night - the first I've been to since graduating, as far as I can remember.

It was a lot of fun.

They played Western State College from Gunnison, Colo., which was an interesting choice. Thank heavens we won!

Since classes are out for the holidays there weren't many people there. It was a small crowd interested in following "their boys" even on a (super) frigid December night. I like going to those games where there's nothing but a bunch of old Wyoming codgers and others who want to watch come hell or high water.

Go WYO!

Homecoming

Last weekend was UW's Homecoming, an event I haven't been to since leaving for D.C.

It was pretty tame - ok, nearly sedated - compared to my last one, but that was just fine. I still had a lot of fun and got to see some folks I hadn't seen in a long time, which is what Homecoming is mostly about now, I think.

I didn't go to the game or the parade, or really any formalized Homecoming events. But I did go country dancing, which is oddly something I haven't done since moving back West. I country danced more on the East Coast than out here. What's up with that?

So, since this is the most active thing I did all weekend that's what I'll share. Once Cindy downloads her photos I'll likely have some more to post. But until then:

Ah...The Cowboy. I really don't think I need to say anything more...

Me country swingin' with Cins. Where am I you ask? I'm that little patch of blue being strangled by a mess of hair...

Done swingin' with Cins and all grins because of it (and because I can breathe again after the attempted strangulation)...

Me and my girls in da' club...

There is one last photo I would LOVE to make my Friday Fave, but without naming names...the girl who shares a name with a month and who is standing next to me not in red wouldn't sign a photo release, so to speak. I'll work on her.

Go Pokes!

Yesterday I went to my first Wyoming Cowboys game in about seven years. I was so excited!

I've been a good Wyoming alum while on the East Coast, attending watching parties, wearing my brown and gold, talking smack to folks from Colorado...etc.

But actually being at the stadium far surpassed any games watched at Crystal City Sports Pub.

Being there, I noticed how many things were the same - and how many things had changed! Like Tailgate Park. What?! And the giant screens on both ends of the field. When did that happen??

The student section isn't one bit different though, or the old War Memorial Stadium sign, or the view of the mountains from the stadium...all the same.

Oh, and we won! Beat North Dakota. Go WYO!

C-O-W-B-O-Y-S!!

I'm in Laramie for the weekend hanging out with my best girlfriends. On the agenda yesterday was a birthday party for Linds' son's 2-year old friend, who apparently loves Pistol Pete, the Wyoming Cowboys mascot.

I also love Pistol Pete. Maybe not enough to invite him to my birthday party, but enough that I would nearly knock 1 and 2-year old children aside for my own picture with the celebrity.

GO POKES!!
